Biohazard remediation consists of the removal, cleaning, and disinfection of blood, bodily fluids, and other toxic or dangerous pathogens from items or building materials subsequent to a death, accident, or communicable disease outbreak. It also includes the safe and authorized disposal of biohazard contaminants.

At Metro Flood Services, we value the health and safety of our workers, our clients and the public. We have a responsibility as a biohazard and trauma scene cleaning company to ensure that all our staff are trained to remove, clean and dispose of all biohazard contaminants in accordance with all Ontario OHSA and CEPA regulations. We only use a licensed (by the federal government) biohazard waste removal company to transport and dispose of biohazards.

Many different types of biohazards can endanger your loved ones and pose threats to people or animals who may encounter them. Biohazards include but are not limited to the following: all bodily fluids (urine, blood, feces and saliva), medical and pathological waste from hospitals, needles and sharps, deceased animals and animal droppings. We may also undertake biohazard cleaning and remediation when there is a communicable disease outbreak or when cleaning up certain hoarding projects. Most hoarding jobs require some sort of biohazard cleanup. It is especially necessary in the case of animal hoarding, where people often hoard and keep many animals.

Metro Flood Services recommends that you never try to touch the contaminants or clean them up, especially without the proper PPE. You may do more damage to your property by spreading the biohazard contaminants across materials. Once these contaminants are absorbed into walls or floors, secondary damages will arise and strong, foul odours will be present. You may incur more expenses as more building materials will be deemed unsalvageable and will have to be replaced if the secondary damages are not mitigated through proper biohazard cleanup.

Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup

Trauma and crime scene cleaning refers to disinfection, recovery, removal and packing for disposal of all biohazard and infectious materials (WHMIS Class D, Division 3). This includes all blood, bodily fluids, and any other biohazardous materials that result from a crime, accident, or death. Metro Flood Services will safely clean and remove blood and any other pathogens or infectious materials from residential, commercial and industrial properties.

Trauma scene cleaning requires specialized training and equipment used by certified and licensed professionals who follow all Ontario Health and Safety standards for handling and disposing of any of these materials. Trauma scene cleanups are required in the event of the following: suicides or unattended deaths, accidents causing bodily harm, and violent assaults and homicides.

Why Choose Metro Flood Services for trauma scene cleaning?

It is essential that you contact a professional trauma scene cleaning company as we can mitigate secondary damages and restore the site to its pre-loss condition. Cross-contamination of blood-borne pathogens to other parts of the property by EMS is also a concern when cleaning a trauma or crime scene. Strong odours can be absorbed into walls, grout, carpeting, cement, subfloor, and vinyl and hardwood flooring. We have the certified and trained staff and the necessary equipment required to clean a trauma or crime scene.

The other, more humanitarian reason you should choose us is that our professional staff know how to help a grieving family or coworkers by completing the crime or trauma scene decontamination quickly and efficiently and by always using discretion. Our staff are compassionate to loved ones’ grief and will thoroughly explain the cleanup process that may be necessary. We offer detailed and clear reporting, assessments and documentation, scopes of work and final recommendations.

We also offer reasonable estimates for trauma scene cleanup. The cost of a trauma scene cleanup is usually borne by the property owner, however, there are cases where the owner’s property insurance covers the cost of the cleanup and repair or when a government agency such as Victim Services steps in and assists with all or part of the costs. We have a vast amount of experience working directly with insurance companies because of our experience with water and fire losses so we can act as a liaison between the property owner and the insurer. Metro Flood Services has also worked with governmental agencies that may be involved in the process.  We will deal directly with these organizations so that you don’t have to. We want to reduce some of the emotional distress and anxiety caused by the traumatic event by at the very least taking the stress of dealing with the cleanup process off their plate so they can properly mourn or care for their family member or friend. Call us now at (416) 877-8759 if you need help cleaning up a trauma or crime scene.
